From Hikes to Road Trips: Essential Vaccines to Keep Your Pet Safe This Spring

Spring is here and I’m getting more eager to go outside (and so is Luna–my energetic Golden Retriever)! Ever since I adopted her 3 years ago, it’s been our annual tradition of hiking trails at Rocky Mountain National Park. This time, we’re also exploring a new destination to see the crystal-clear waters at Lake Tahoe.

I love seeing Luna run across wide-open fields and jump into the lakes, but I always make sure she’s prepared for all the outdoor fun. I had no idea how risky it could be if your pet goes unvaccinated to new places, so it’s important to ensure they stay safe and healthy. It’s something I learned from our vet at Sploot and luckily they provide all the necessary services to protect your travel companion!

Here are some essential vaccinations:

  • Rabies: Legally required of course, but also crucial against any wildlife encounters.

  • Leptospirosis: My vet explained this bacterial infection lurks in puddles and lakes. Luna loves water, so this is definitely needed.

  • Bordetella: Prevent any respiratory infections for your pup with this vaccine so they can enjoy social outings.

  • Lyme disease: Ticks are everywhere, especially in areas that are woodsy or grassy.

I’m really grateful that Sploot makes getting pet vaccinations easy. You can easily call or go online to book appointments - even the same-day! The process is really stress free, and they are very transparent when it comes to caring for your pet. As I pack for our Tahoe adventure, I'm grateful to have Sploot keeping my adventure buddy healthy and protected. With the right vaccinations, Luna and I are ready for a spring full of outdoor memories!
